Along the provincial road that from Erba climbs up to Vallassina, you can find some renowned resorts, springs of mineral water and inviting green woods, perfect for healthy promenades. Walking through them, in a fabulous scenery, you can be amazed at the sight of erratic blocks and the strange earth pyramids in Rezzago. Going higher, visitors can find ideal places for winter sports with the cross-country trails and the paths for ski touring and snowshoes at Piano del Tivano and Parco Monte San Primo.
Along the main road between Vallassina and Bellagio lies Margeglio, with the famous Sanctuary “Madonna del Ghisallo”. This little church is located at the end of the steep ascent “Ghisallo” that has always been a finishing post for amateur and professional bile races. That’s why the Madonna worshipped in the Church was declared patron of the cyclists in 1949. Here you can find mementoes donated by the greatest champions on two wheels: the bicycles of Coppi and Gimondi, the T-shirts of Bartali an Merckx, famous and humble trophies and pennants. The Cycling Museum next to the sanctuary has recently been inaugurated in order to safeguard these mementoes and a rich historical archive of bicycle racing.
